Sports Performance
In recent years, elite athletes, including tennis legend Roger Federer, have used visualisation techniques to mentally rehearse successful shots and responses to errors—a practice commonly associated with hypnosis and optimal performance. If you want to improve your sports performance for pleasure, or are a professional athlete, from golfing to riding to weight training and more, the mentalization of a goal in a specific situation and the inner rehearsal can be a very effective tool to enhance your training, because the brain cannot distinguish between reality and imagination. The Ohia Centre for sports psychology identified 9 mental skills that aid sports performance: Choose and maintain a positive attitude, Maintain a high level of self-motivation, Set high, realistic goals, Deal effectively with people, Use positive self-talk, Use positive mental imagery, Manage anxiety effectively, Manage their emotions effectively, Maintain concentration. All of which hypnotherapy can help to positively influence. If you would like to learn more, take a moment to read selected studies and articles on athletes’ experiences to see how my approach to hypnotherapy might be able to help you.
