Supporting people managing anxiety related to neurodivergence.
Through life experience in my closest family, I have witnessed how well solution-focused hypnotherapy can support people in dealing with challenges related to their experience of Autism.
My Approach
A diagnosis of neurodivergence, be it ADHD or Autism, especially later in life, sometimes throws up more questions than it answers. Through my training with the National Centre for Autism and Mental Health (https://www.ncamh.co.uk), I have adapted my practice as a solution-focused hypnotherapist to support people needing help with anxiety related to neurodivergence, improve sensory regulation, and build confidence in what can feel like a new or added identity.
Why I am passionate about this.
A close family member was diagnosed as autistic in adulthood. What struck me was how little support followed the diagnosis. They had to find it themselves, first through peer groups and later through hypnotherapy, which they had originally sought out for IBS. I saw how much hypnotherapy helped them with sensory regulation and with the anxiety that comes from living in a neurotypical world that rarely adjusts its pace or demands to autistic people.
That experience led me to train for a certificate in autism and mental health. A deeper understanding of how autism is experienced, and how it can best be supported, has shaped a dedicated offer within my practice. I work with a solution-focused model that builds on existing strengths and helps people draw on resources they may not yet be using. This reflects my belief that neurodivergence is not a disorder to be fixed but a difference that, when supported holistically, allows people to thrive.
